I know this is my first post in a long time, but I’m finally settled into my new home in Illinois, and I’m loving it. My friends are great, and even though it was the biggest decision of my life, I think it was a good one.

But to the point of my post.

Everyone knows the saying, “RL always comes before the game”. Yeah, understandable, right? Wedding, emergencies, or just plans with friends, those always come first before the game, right? Well, when is the line drawn when it comes to RL before the game? When it is time to say, “The game comes first before RL?”

For instance, when is it time to put a game before the interest of your friends?

I hear stories of people who are in groups where loot is given or defaulted to a friends and such, and yeah, it offends people obviously. But these are people with the mentality that even in the game, “RL before the game”. To a stranger, you’re just a faceless, nameless, nobody in the game, when they have a good IRL buddy or friend who wants the same piece you do.

Granted it’s inexcusable, but don’t we all believe that RL comes before the Game?

What about when it comes to favors?

You’re in a PUG, and a friend you know wants you to come help them or run something with them? Obviously you’re going to leave that PUG and help out your friend… why? Because they’re your friend, and RL comes before the game.

What about money?

We all know there are lowbies and new players who randomly send people tells asking for 5 or 10 gold because they need a little help, but what if a friend asks you for a loan of, oh say, 5000 gold to get thier epic flying? Well, assuming you can afford it, you will obviously loan said friend 5k gold instead of that lowbie the 5 gold because, hey…. guess what…. RL comes before the game.

What about when it comes to raids?

You wanna raid, you wanna kill internet dragons, but you’ve got friends who want to go along with more faceless strangers. Who do you take? The friend who may need a little help, or the faceless stranger who can pull numbers? Oh… hesitant? So is this the line where RL doesn’t come before the game? Interesting… because we’ve always supported RL before the game.

So you take that friend who might not be as good, and maybe you don’t get as far as you want, but hey… you had fun because it was with a friend. You laughed, cracked jokes, and helped out your freind, giving him or her a few pointers on how to improve thier game.

Or, say you take that faceless person, and you blow through the raid, getting bosses down and all these pretty purples… but what about that friend? That friend that you not only abandoned, but offended, and basically told them that they weren’t good enough. Is this really the line where RL doesn’t come before the game? Because you’d rather kill internet dragons and would rather get more shiney pixilated purple epics than keep a healthy friendship in tact with your buddy?

Oh, but they should understand.

Understanding isn’t the point. Sure that friend will smile, and shove it off as no big deal, accept they need improvement and aren’t the best pick, but that still doesn’t excuse the fact that said freind… is still hurt, and offended by your actions. Because said friend wants to improve, and wants to be good enough, and wanted to just play with his or her freind, but said friend is shunned, and cast aside because… they’re just not good enough in game.

How would that affect your relationship out of game?

I know my readers are reletively few in numbers compared to some blogs, but you’re just as important, and are like friends to me. Well right now, I’m asking for help.

The company my mom has been working with for over 15 years is threatened of being closed down, and 700 others are at risk to losing thier jobs. With the government taking over the student loan industry, the originations and servicing center my mom and I work will be shut down, and 700 other people will be out of a job, unless, the government trys to find an alternative. To fight against the student loan reform, we’ve set out to get 20,000 signatures for our petition to pressue congress towards looking for an alternative to keep from us losing jobs.

I need your help. If you have a spare moment, please visit and sign the petition to save our jobs, and keep the student loan industry out of the governments hands and pressured into looking for an alternative.

I want to thank you all so much for being so loyal to me, and if you help, I’m eternally in your debt. My mom can’t afford to lose her job, and neither can 700 others in the same center.

Thank You. 🙂

Once again, I must extend my deepest, and most sincerest apologies to you all. Recently, at work, they’ve cracked down and completely blocked all external internet sites, and on top of that, run regular scheduled centerwide scans for any open browser that bypasses the firewall. Seeing as work was my primary place of blogging adventures because typically when I get home, I’m swamped with like… everything… I haven’t had much time, if any, to post anything remotely interesting.

In my folder, I’ve got tons of screenshots, quotes, Socializing 101 ideas, and all around qwirky randomness everyone I know loves and enjoys. I promise I’ll be able to pick it up once again when the insanity in my life starts to die down. But till then, here’s a summary of what you’ve missed.

Mika’s Top 10 This Week:

1. Amber is still a noob.
2. The guild downed Mimiron, Vezax, and got Yogg into phase 2 before we started having problems.
3. I’ve rolled 3 new toons. 2 on the Earthen Ring server, look for Reikyva (58- Nelf DK) or Ryni (5-Nelf Rogue) if your interested for some fun RP, or Sylvyya (5-Belf Rogue) on Cenarion Circle ^_~
4. Reì on Azgalor has been racking achievements left and right and occationally topping charts.
5. My RP blog still isn’t quite finished yet, still putting the final touches on that one too.
6. Thanks to Tharion Greyseer he’s helping me get some reference points to get a possible career in writing off the ground, so I’m looking into that.
7. I’m getting ready for the big move, leaving on October 1st (Yay!)
8. Guild Drama has escalated through the roof because of a particular Hunter who is the single most egotistical, self-centered, rude, arrogant, piece of sixteen year old shit I’ve ever met.
9. Mika finally did ToC 10 man with a pug who one shot everything but faction champtions. (We had no mages, no locks, no hunters… virtually no CC. BURN THE DPS!!)
10. Did I mention Amber is still a noob?

There it is, folks… Mika’s Top 10 You Missed this week.

Disclaimer: I’ll be going into further details in the near future regarding some points… Amber’s failsauce… self-explainitory.

Once again, thank you thank you soooo much for being patient with me, and I’m soooo sorry for slacking. Point and laugh… I’m a scrub, lol.

I really don’t know how to title today’s post. It’s a post of mixed feelings, some good and some bad.

For start, I want to direct you to Ky. A very emotional and moving post that gave me chills. I couldn’t have written anything better.

For now, in honor of 9-11, I wish to ask that, for those who harbor negative feelings towards another, for at least today let them go. We all have our take on what happened in New York 8 years ago, and the impact it had on our lives varies by person. For just today, I ask that any negativity please be held back. Today was a day 8 years ago that was supposed to tear our country apart… but with support and comfort from around the world, we became stronger.

Thousands have died.

Millions have been hurt.

And it continues every day as we battle terrorism.

From September 11th News

“May God bless the many souls who lost their lives, on September 11, 2001, at
the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on airline flights 11, 175, 77, & 93.
The courage and sacrifice shown by the FDNY firefighters, the NYC Police, and
other NYC EMS will never be forgotten. History will remember 9/11/2001.”

I ask you take a moment, and honor the fallen, recognize those lost, and tell someone close to you that you love them. You never know what tomorrow brings.

On another note,

I want to wish Kotakh and Happy birthday, he turns 31.

Finoria, Happy Birthday to you too, she turns 26 today.

Happy Birthday You Two!!

Not a long post today, work has me swamped for once and my supervisor is breathing down my neck.

The Good- I had quite a busy weekend. My trip to Chicago was amazing, I had a blast. I met some great people and saw some awesome places, I’m really looking forward to moving there in a month after I sort out my life here in Florida.

The Bad- I found out last night that I have the worst luck in the game. I’m not going to go into QQ details, but when I see myself investing so much time and effort into something, be it my druid or my shaman, I can’t seem to beat the Loot Table and RNG bosses. If anyone knows a strat… please… shoot it my way.

The Worst- I’m going to be taking an extended break from my shaman after tonight. I’m going to try to run a Naxx 25 on her, but if things go as they’ve been, I’m going to be parking her in Dal and letting her time run out. She’s been nothing but a headache and a frustration ever since she hit 80.

It’s hard to over-look some things, and when you try to put forth as much effort as you can and notice you’re only bashing your head against a brick wall for hours and hours on end, it’s disheartening to say the least.

That’s my weekend recap.

Now, for random Mika facts!

Mika was actually born in Alabama.

Mika has only lived in Alabama, Texas, and Florida… soon to add Illinois to the list!

Mika loves Basshunter.

Mika is craving white chocolate… like… really bad.

Mika is an avid car enthusiast, and one day plans on owning a Mitsu Evo IX MR.

Mika played soccer for 8 years, and played the flute for just as long.

Mika was in her high school band, on the dance line and flag core for fall, and concert band flute for spring.

Finally, Mika hates Tinker Bell, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Katy Perry.

Mikata, today, is in la-la land. She can’t focus for more than 5 minutes on a specific task, even writing a post. I started a Freya strat… scrapped it. Went to a Mimiron strat… scrapped it. Tried a QQ post about how bad Amber is as a Disc priest… scrapped it.

I’m in la-la land because tomorrow I fly out to Chicago to see people I’ve met on the interwebs.

Save me the sob stories of kid nappings, or how irrational I’m being… I’ve heard it all before. I don’t care. Don’t take this the wrong way Amber… I swear, but… I actually trust these weird people I’ve met on the interwebs. I trust them enough to call them my friends, to pay 300 bucks to fly up and visit, and at the end of this month, to move in with or live next to.

I enjoy the company of them all, even if Amber is out to kill me when I make fun of her boob size.

But Mikata has never flown before… and while she has no doubts or worries about the trip itself, the thought of flying terrifies her. And flying for the first time… alone? Scares the living shit out of her.

So I regret to inform you all, but this will be the last post until I return on Tuesday. Friday I will be packing and making sure everything is together, flying, and spending the weekend with my interwebs friends. (And hopefully Amber doesn’t give me a concussion with her pillows.)

I was sitting at my desk at work, and I had started typing up this lovely little raid healing guide for resto trees. Spec, Gear, abilities, situations, oh it was going to be lovely. But then I realized that ‘Hey… work doesn’t let me access like half the shit I need in order to make references or to do detailed research of different talent notes or ability notes.’ So… I was faced with the decision to scrap it and save it till I got home, and look for something else to blog about… or just BS and look stupid with a half-assed healing guide.

I chose to save it and wait. ^-^

So as I sat in my cubicle… staring at a loan account waiting to be processed because some dumb ass doesn’t know how to type in their driver’s license state, it dawned on me.

We were all little baby nubcakes and one point in time, I sure do remember I was!

Here’s my story of how and why I first started playing the game:

It was August of 2007. I was currently working at a local Japanese restaurant as a waitress serving sushi to snobby patrons at a hibachi grill who were commenting about my kimono I spent 200.00 on. (It’s really pretty, I’ll have to show you all one day.) I finish serving the food and I go back into the back room with my coworkers.

Now I wasn’t aware of this, but out of about the 25-30 people who worked there, 5 people actually played WoW. One of them, a real close friend of mine named Tyler who plays Doriany and Shinjinku on my server US-Azgalor. When I sit down, they were all chit-chatting about something or another, and I just sat and listened. I had no clue what they were talking about, but they were really REALLY into the conversation.

At one point Tyler looked at me and said, “You should start playing.” I kinda laughed, looked at him like he was crazy, and asked why. “Um… because I play, duh!” We all laughed, and I just shook my head. “I dunno… seems kinda dorky.” (Little did he know then, or even still knows now… I’m more of a dork than people realize). He wouldn’t take no for an answer.

“If you make a hundred bucks in tips tonight, you have to go buy it.” I rolled my eyes, laughed, and said fine, whatever.

So a few hours later that night I was standing in line with vanilla WoW and BC in my hands and my 120 bucks I made in tips that night. (Which is really good considering waitresses only got half of their tips) and I went home to install the game.

Looking through the different classes, I was trying to decide what I wanted to role. I knew I wanted to be an Elf, but since all my friends were alliance, I couldn’t be the blood elf warlock I wanted to be, so I had to be a Night Elf. The hard part… do I wanted to be a hunter or a druid?

I knew nothing about either class. The only deciding factor was I could TRANSFORM INTO ANIMALS!!!

So I rolled a druid, woo-hoo!!!

My first night, Tyler was online with me helping me out, and convinced me to bring my druid from Teldrassil to Stormwind. “WTF Stormwind? Eh… okay?” He got a mage buddy of his to port me… and when I get there, I’m running around like “Ooooh…. Ahh…. It’s sooo. Pretty!” I run to the outside gates, and I see people dying everywhere and I’m like “OMG DON’T KILL ME I JUST MADE HER!!”

Tyler thought it would be hilarious to bring me to Stormwind in the middle of a raid. So I ran… I ran far far away, getting killed by monsters left and right. I didn’t know what my abilities were, or how they functioned, I was a total idiot. And that lasted till I was probably about 60+ and realized how much of an idiot I was for leveling resto.

Yeah… I’m a dork.

It took me over a year to even be considered competent enough to fully understand the gaming aspects for my group of RL friends to accept me as an actual WoW player.

So tell me… what were your first baby nubcake moments in WoW?

I would just like to say one thing for the day;

In the same sense a complete stranger shouldn’t come into your house and proceed to call you ugly and say that you have horrible home décor skills, you should NOT go onto someone’s blog and proceed to personally attack them and their competency.

It’s one thing to offer constructive criticism, I enjoy listening to people when they offer a civil explanation of an alternative way to solving an issue, but when you come onto MY blog, and MOCK me, and try to condescend ME, and you know who you are, I deleted your comment because I will NOT have someone question my intelligence on my blog. If you don’t like what I say, or if you don’t agree with what I do, then GTFO.

I hope said person reads this, because I don’t ever want you to comment on my blog again. You might’ve thought you were slick after saying what you did and leaving no web address or email, but I’ve got your IP, you coward.

Stay the fuck out of my blog if you can’t keep your rude comments to yourself.

I would like to take this time to intruduce you to the QQ-Corner. Occationally, I will resort to my QQ corner to bitch about anything and everything that bugs the living hell out of me… so let’s get started. (Laughs, giggles, and nods of agreement will ensue.)

Today will be quite the lengthy topic considering I’ve had quite a long week. Since it is so long… I’m having to break it into three parts… because reading up on 15 topics of QQ at one time might make you piss your pants.

((WARNING: The contents of these next 3 blog posts contain very opinionated statements of QQ, ranting, raving, bitching, extereme cussing, excessive foul language, overuse of caps lock, abuse of exclimation points, and a board range of topics. User disgression is advised.))

“Alright mothers, lock up your teen girls… the new trailor for Twilight: New Moon is out now.”

Yes… that is an actual quote I heard on the TV while my mom was watching Entertainment Television regarding the TRAILOR for the movie. I had a friend once, who was utterly and completely infatuated with the books BEFORE they became some occult phenomina along with Harry Potter. All she would ever talk about is those damn books.

Edward this, Jacob that… and she absolutely hated Bella with the passion of a thousand burning suns out of envy. But then again… what other pre-teen teeny-bopper with bad-boy issues wouldn’t want to have two super hot supernatural guys fighting over her in the most cliche’d scenario known to fantasy lovers??

I couldn’t stand the books because they were written in first person, I couldn’t stand the main characters because Bella-bitch is your classic ‘oh poor pity me’ girl who has MAJOR family issues, is the weird girl that no one likes, Edward is your sereotypical Billy-Bad-Ass with a heart of fucking gold, and Jacob is your loveable horn-dog that’s begging to get laid.

I hate the plot because, now this is resorting to my old RP style of classifications, the MOST despie syled plot I’ve ever seen in my LIFE. On top of that… let’s just have every other fucking vampire and werewolf in the world want this weird looking girl that no one else likes…. ’cause even though she’s weird as fuck…. SHE’S GOTTA BE HOT AND TASTE GOOD!!!

Bad Drivers
L2SlowLane Mother Fuckers!!

Alright, I’m going to just say it… I am a firm and loyal believer that when someone reaches a certain point of physical and mental deterioration of the eyes, ears, mind… they’re licenses should be fucking REVOKED!! Once you reach a certain age… like…. 50ish…. you should be required to take a physical exam to ensure you are still capable of driving, physically and mentally stable enough to be behind the wheel of a 2 ton murder weapon!!

If you are so deaf you can’t hear the horn behing you screeching for you to go at the green light, or you’re so blind you can’t see where you need to turn, so you have to drive at a creeping 20 mph to make sure you don’t miss it… YOU SHOULDN’T BE DRIVING!!!

And also… for you “overly cautious drivers”…. IF DRIVING A CAR SCARES THE HONEST PISS OUT OF YOU, THEN RIDE THE FUCKING BUS!! If you feel the need to drive 10 mph UNDER the posted speed limit because you’re so jumpy and jittery behind the wheel in fear a deer is going to pop out from behind a fucking CONDO on the BEACH at you…. GTFO!!!! You’re more of a hazard than anything because one sudden movement and you’re slamming on your brakes like God himself jumped infront of you.

People Chewing with Mouth Open

One of my biggest pet peeves is when I’m talking to someone… and they try to eat…. at the same fucking time. Like seriously…. NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THAT SHIT!!! Congradulations… you can multi-task by talking, chewing, swallowing, and annoying the piss out of me at the same time.

The constant SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK as the glob of lard rolls around your mouth, cruched between your teeth and plopped from one side of your jaw to the other coated in your saliva…. it’s fucking gross!! Is it really that fucking hard to 1. Chew 2. Swallow 3. Speak?? One at a time… IN THAT ORDER?!?!?

It’s 1. Rude 2. Disrespectful and 3. Just plain Disgusting, Jackass!!

Lazy DPS
Do as you’re told, when you’re told DAMNIT

I love when I’m in a raid… and DPS is give 3 simple instructions…

1.) Assist the tank in getting aggro before unleashing your fury ‘balls-to-the-wall’ style DPS if you can, or count to 5 until said tank can get aggro.

2.) Stay away from shit that hurts, if you are the shit that hurts… then get the fuck away!!

Yeah… only 3!! Shouldn’t be too hard to follow, right??

1.) Trigger happy fucking DPS get killed. DUMBASS!!

2.) DPS that doesn’t pay attention or think it’s cute to stand in shit because they want to be cute…. get killed. FUCKING DUMBASS!!

Hey… want cool lewts…. and happy healers… and happy raid leaders…. DELETE THAT FUCKING RECOUNT ADDON AND JUST DO WHAT YOU’RE TOLD!!

Blizz Patches and Nerfs
Blizz is a equal opportunity employer of fucking morons

Blizzard wants everyone (themselves) to be happy. Because who couldn’t be happy with 11 million people playing thier game? Well… I wonder if half of the employees know what it’s like when 11 million people QQ because Blizz is full of MORONS!!

It seems ever patch is a nerf or buff to one class because another complains. They’ll nerf a class’s PvP ability because of people complaining about it’s PvE use, or vise-versa.

On top of that…

(Yes… true story… that really fucking happened)

Hey… I’m sure it couldn’t be too hard to figure out a way to take a group composition and base the loot table off that??? Or maybe Blizz is just too lazy and they get a kick out of watching people flail miseraly in a raid of 16 bosses and have NOTHING drop for them.

On both a physical, and mental scale, the loss of a friend is hard. Now I’m not talking about the death of a close friend, but more or less the death of a friendship in game that might not ever come back.

In the past few days, we’ve had two of our best healers leave the guild and all around quit the game. For whatever reasons of thiers, we support them wherever they go.

The hardest part of watching them go was the fact that not only were they guild healers, but everyone in our guild is a friend. Guilds, even with thier occational drama, is like family, and watching someone leave with the nagging thought in the back of your mind saying you’ll never talk to them again, is hard to cope with for a while.

Someone you generally care about, concerned for thier well being, you want them to be happy and enjoy themselves in and out of the game, even if that means cutting the game off completely and letting the account die never speaking to that family again. No one realized it at first, but the impact of that loss of a friend is lasting.

The imediate feeling of loss once you see that person log off for the last time, you want them to log on one last time to wish them luck in life and to have fun. And long after that last log, the lasting impact on the guild knowing one of thier own is gone, it dents the guild confidence and moral.

In the case of our guild healers, we’re all really close to one another. We look out and help one another, laugh with one another, we’re a close knit group. When our two finest left, we were kind of at a loss. These two said people were masters of thier class. They knew the ends and outs of thier specs and gear, they were absolutely MINDBLOWING.

When they left, we didn’t know how to make up for that level of skill in our raids. Last night in Ulduar, we were having such a hard time on Ignis. There was so much damage going on, people dieing the the pot, the tanks going down quick, DPS that were actually following directions dieing because healers were in such disarray.

At the end of the night, we stood scratching our heads asking ourselfs “Did those two really make that much of a difference.”

Surprisingly enough, I believe they did. Not only are we down two amazing healers with wicked crazy skill, but two friends who are gone forever that we’ll never get to laugh with again.

Some people don’t understand why WoW players can spend hours on end in front of the computer, and talk to strangers all day. They don’t understand how the game can become so addictive. It’s not the game aspect that makes it addictive, it’s the social aspect of the game that keeps drawing people back.

Sure we’re all strangers at first, but when you start cutting up and joking in gchat, or throwing snarky comments in good humor at one another in vent with a playful gkick, these strangers quickly become your friends. You know thier names, where they come from, what kind of music and TV shows they like, thier favorite beer to drink during a raid. These people become friends.

And it’s always a tragic thing to say a final good-bye to a friend.

I’m sure everyone has experienced this type of loss in game of a friend, and you know how it feels to lose that companionship that made you want to keep logging on and playing. But as we all know, time heals all wounds… so I’ll believe that in time, we’ll always come back, and pick up loss ground, and keep trudging forward to try and live up to thier memory.
